#1 Question im asked when creating original art

How long does it take to create a work of art?

Have you ever wondered how long it takes for me to create a masterpiece? Well, there is no one-size-fits-all answer.

Is it a quick doodle or a labour of love?

When it comes to creating original art, each piece is individual. It all depends on the complexity of the piece, the detail, the size of the canvas and the mediums used. The saying ‘watching paint dry’ is quite literal, sometimes this really does test my patience, as I’m itching to get creative on the next step!

On average, creating a piece of original art can take anywhere from 3 weeks to 2 months. That's right, we're talking about weeks and weeks of dedication, inspiration, and a lot of coffee!

Why does it take so long?

Creating original art is a meticulous process that requires time, patience, and a touch of madness. Artists pour their heart and soul into their work, carefully crafting each stroke of paint, perfectly mixing each individual colour choice and occasionally, hours of crystal embellishments

Artists often start with a vision in their mind's eye, but bringing that vision to life on canvas or paper is no easy task. Experimenting with different techniques, materials, and styles, all while battling their inner critic (I can be my own worse critic, let me tell you).

So, what's happening during those weeks/ months?

During the creation process, artists go through various stages. They brainstorm ideas, sketch rough outlines, and refine their composition. It's like watching a sculptor chiselling away at a block of marble, slowly revealing the hidden beauty within.

Once the foundation is set, artists dive into the nitty-gritty details. Layering colours, blending details, adding texture, and bringing their artwork to life. It's like watching a magician perform a trick - you're not quite sure how they do it, but you're captivated by the magic unfolding before your eyes.

Patience is a virtue!

Creating original art is not a sprint; it's a marathon. Artists need time to step back, reflect, and make adjustments. It's like trying to find the perfect Instagram filter for your selfie - you want it to be perfect before you hit that share button.

So, the next time you see a breathtaking piece of original art, remember the time and effort that went into its creation. It's not just a pretty picture; it's a labour of love, a masterpiece in the making. And if you're feeling inspired, why not grab a paintbrush and unleash your inner artist? Amongst the creative madness, it can be pretty therapeutic.
