Finding inspiration
Finding inspiration for my art is wonderfully fluid and intuitive. I draw from a vast range of sources in my everyday life. Music stirs emotions that translate into colours and forms, while the feelings and energy of a moment can spark new ideas. Whether it's a scene from TV or the intricate details of historical architecture, I find beauty in the world around me and channel it into my work. Interior design, with its thoughtful balance of colours and textures, also informs my artistic process.
When an idea strikes, I tend not to hesitate- I dive right in! Taking action on the 'light bulb' moment as soon as - whilst its fresh in my head. My use of colour is particularly telling, as it reflects my emotions in the moment, creating a direct connection between my inner world and the art I produce. This spontaneous, open-minded approach allows me to create in a way that's both personal and ever-evolving. Allowing me to let the inspiration flow naturally.
Artist's block is a completely normal part of the creative process-everyone experiences it at some point. In fact, it can be a valuable opportunity to experiment and explore.
Instead of forcing yourself to find inspiration, this can be the perfect time to play around with new mediums, mix unexpected colours, or try out different techniques. Often, it's in these moments of trial and error that new ideas will begin to surface, and you might even find that some of your best work emerges from the most unexpected places.
When struggling to find inspiration, don't forget to look around you-there's beauty and potential in the everyday. It could be something as simple as the something inspiring someone said, the shapes of objects in your environment, or something you see on your morning scroll thru your socials. But sometimes, the key is to look inward and allow your emotions and experiences to guide you. Trust that inspiration will come, and sometimes, the act of creating itself is what will unlock those fresh ideas.
