More Than a Painting: Creating Memories That Last Forever

More Than a Painting: Creating Memories That Last Forever

Some commissions are beautiful to create. Others stay with you long after they’ve left the studio.

Recently, I had the privilege of painting two very special dogs for a client. Sadly, one had passed away, and this piece was created as a way to honour their memory while celebrating the bond they shared together.

Every commission I create begins with a story. I spend time understanding who or what I’m painting because the most meaningful pieces are never just about how someone looks—they’re about how they made you feel.

For this portrait, I hand-painted each detail before adding delicate gold leaf to bring warmth and depth to the piece. To make it even more personal, I finished the portrait with a Swarovski crystal halo above the dog who had passed away. It was a subtle, heartfelt detail that represented their angel status and added an extra layer of meaning to the artwork.

When my client saw the finished painting, they were completely over the moon. Moments like that are the reason I love creating commissioned artwork. Knowing that something I’ve made will hang in someone’s home and bring comfort, happiness and cherished memories for years to come is incredibly rewarding.

Whether it’s a beloved pet, a family member or someone who holds a special place in your heart, a commissioned painting becomes so much more than artwork. It becomes a daily reminder of love, connection and the memories that never fade.

These are the pieces that tell your story. The ones that are passed down through generations. The ones that make you smile every time you walk past them.

If you’ve been thinking about commissioning a bespoke piece, I’d love to help bring your story to life. Together, we can create something truly personal—something that captures not just a face, but a feeling, and a memory you’ll treasure forever.
