My journey as a Self taught Artist
My Journey of a Self-Taught Artist
Art has always been a part of me. From an early age, I have always loved creating—whether it was making my own clothes, decorating my space, or crafting unique costumes for my daughters. Creativity runs in my family; my parents are both naturally artistic, so perhaps it was inevitable that I would follow a creative path.
Yet, despite my passion for art, I never received formal training beyond the lessons I had in school over 20 years ago. I didn’t attend an art college or take professional courses. Instead, my journey as an artist has been entirely self-taught—a road filled with experimentation, discovery, and a deep love for learning.
Embracing My Own Style
Over the years, my artistic style has evolved, incorporating elements that reflect my personality and past experiences. My background as a jeweller and diamond setter has given me a deep appreciation for detail and precision, which now translates into my artwork. My love for adding crystal embellishments to my paintings is a direct connection to my past, blending my artistic journey with my craftsmanship.
I have also been drawn to street art influences, bold colours, and quirky, one-off designs. Creating something unique—something that speaks to people on a personal level—has always been my goal. Every piece I make is a reflection of my passion and the journey I have taken to get here.
The Beauty of Being Self-Taught
Being a self-taught artist comes with its challenges, but it also brings a deep sense of fulfilment. There are no rules, no restrictions—just endless possibilities to create, learn, and grow. I’ve made mistakes, painted over canvases multiple times, and experimented with materials that didn’t work, but every setback has been a learning experience.
For anyone who dreams of becoming an artist but feels held back by a lack of formal education, I’m proof that passion, persistence, and the willingness to learn can take you far. Art is about self-expression, and there is no right or wrong way to create.
My journey is ongoing, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next. Whether you’re an aspiring artist or someone who simply loves creativity, I hope my story inspires you to embrace your own artistic path—wherever it may lead.
